Juliana Vasconcelos Senra, associate at MFA Legal & Tech, is participating as a consultant in a European Union and Council of Europe project on a crucial and timely topic: ‘Defence of equality and non-discrimination by equality bodies with regard to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in public administrations’. The adoption of AI tools by public administrations raises complex questions about fairness, transparency, equality and potential discrimination against individuals, including particularly vulnerable populations. The project will contribute to greater awareness on the part of public administrations of the risks and opportunities of AI for the defence of equality and non-discrimination, as well as to the sharing of knowledge and good practices with relevant public administration and regulatory bodies in Portugal and the EU.
Juliana, together with other consultants, took responsibility for the 6th module of a training course for public administration, which aims to equip trainees with fundamental knowledge about AI and non-discrimination, preparing them for the ethical and legal challenges of digital transformation.
This project operates in Portugal, Belgium and Finland, with the CIG (Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality) as its national partner in Portugal.
